Synology Camera License Digital
The bar on the left shows all motion across every camera in your system, while the bar on the right shows motion on the currently selected camera. This is a great way to quickly see what was going on in your environment with only a few clicks of a mouse. You can drag the bar on the timeline up or down to view the video at that point in time, or click play to watch it in action. Since there's a lot of video to go through manually, Synology added a feature called 'Smart Search' to utilize the power of the NAS device and make things easier. With Smart Search, you can configure the tool to look for specific things, such as motion, missing objects, foreign objects, lost focus, and more.
Once Surveillance Station is installed, setting up the cameras can be done through the IP Camera menu. This process can be repeated for as many cameras as you own. If you own more than 2 cameras however, need to be purchased to allow additional cameras to be setup.
If I didn’t spend so much time getting it up and running I would think of returning because of how angry this practice makes me feel. I joined just to vent my frustration with this since I just was made aware of this while trying to install the camera!
Synology's security suite is pretty solid as far as scheduling, triggering, motion detection, notifications, and ease of playback is concerned. For the money it's a pretty good deal. Given that I use my NAS for many, many, other things, for me it was a great deal. As stated above the unit comes with one camera license. An additional license a couple years ago was about $50. Four packs of licenses were available at one time as well.
Synology does not include a POE injector, or a switch. I run a one 1080p camera surveillance station, its been pretty good so far. That link you sent does not give any indication of the interface. Movie screenplays. Applied Models. Synology Surveillance Device License Packs are designed for expanding camera, I/O module, access controllers, and transaction devices set up on Synology Surveillance Station. By default, two device licenses2 are installed on a DiskStation or RackStation1, and more default licenses are installed on an NVR3.

Worked just fine to add a third camera to my DS116. UPDATE June 25 2017: Synology added HTML5 streaming and different stream profiles to work better on mobile and other clients on low-bandwidth connections. Cons: UPDATE June 25 2017: Synology has added the features I mentioned below! Surveillance Station 8.1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope Synology updates the Surveillance Station software to full HTML 5 so that it will work on browsers other than Internet Explorer. Also please update the mobile app to add video stream quality options to prevent slowness and connection issues on mobile devices.
Streaming three 1440p feeds to an iPhone doesn't do too well even when connecting via a local network address. Pros: Synology NAS = Awesome sauce in every way. Cons: 4 days to ship a software license via DHL (in the same state). For something that could be securely emailed. At least 2 eggs off.
Conclusion If you got this far, then your surveillance system is now setup. For our setup, getting everything to work was simply a matter of around 20 minutes which really isn’t all that much more time compared to the cloud solutions on the market, yet a solution like this provides exactly the same functionality that a cloud video surveillance system would provide without giving cloud companies access to video footage from the privacy of your home. In terms of cost, a system like this is significantly cheaper in the long term as well. Currently the retails for $199 and a subscription to just 10 days of video history costs an additional $100/yr while 30 days of video history would cost $300/yr. With just two cameras, the total cost for just 10 day video history access would be in the neighborhood of $600 for the first year and $200/yr after that. Bump that up to 30 day video history and the price shoots up to $1000 for the first year and $600/yr after that. In comparison, a couple Amcrest IP cameras and a Synology NAS can do more than 30 days of 24/7 recording at under $1,000.
Certain panoramic cameras (e.g. Axis M3007) which support native dewarping may provide more than one stream (e.g. Quad View, Double Panorama, and Original View) at a time. Each of regular and panoramic cameras requires one license only.

It's like you want to sneak in then. Oh by the way if you want to fully use the machine pay us. Bad business! Licence fees are always bogus and just a way to make vacation money! If you guys don't want to pay then bypass them and install zoneminder. It is free and can be found at their website.

The four channels are corresponded to by the four lens, and the fifth channel is the view of all four cameras combined. If you wish to display all five channels in Surveillance Station, Synology will charge you for five licenses accordingly. Video servers such as Vivotek VS8801 can connect to up to eight analog cameras. In this case, Synology will charge you for eight licenses accordingly. This rule will also apply to video servers supported in Surveillance Station. How to install In Surveillance Station, go to Management > License > then click Add.
I have a list of my licenses as well as the emails they were sent in. Let me try to clarify the question once more. I assume that license can be installed ONCE. If you want to move them to a new server, normally you go and delete them from the old one.
I'll have a look into this. Saving €175 on hot air (licenses), I might even consider throwing another computing brick in my network. Perhaps an Atom based low power unit to run this.
To me this is unexceptionable i want to codes and have money to spend but i cant just buy it from your site and email it to me. Synology get with the times I want electronic delivery, I pay employees and I talk with other business owners. Do you think i will be recommending your product with making it so hard for me to buy more licenses? How hard is it for you to put a buy more button in side of the NAS that directs me to your site?

That's not terribly far off the mark for a professional grade NVR system that probably has similar functionality as the Surveillance Station software. I'm not saying I like it a whole lot, but it makes sense. You pay for what you use. Your average user probably never buys a license. A power user with a mega system is probably cross-shopping dedicated NVR systems, and the Synology offering isn't terribly priced.
